Introduction:
The majority of my athletic endeavors have been in the sport of endurance running. I started running in high school cross country and track in the early 1980s. I enlisted into the United States Marine Corps and then joined the Army National Guard in 1989 where I have worked full-time for 26 years. Currently I am employed with the Arizona Army National Guard in Tucson as an Armament Officer for an attack aircraft maintenance battalion.
I have been a member of the All-National Guard Marathon Team since 1992. I started running for the team as part of the Minnesota National Guard and then moved to Arizona in 1994. I travel extensively with the Guard team and compete in the marathon, half-marathon and relay team competitions. I also have competed on the Guard’s Biathlon and Pentathlon teams. I am a trained and practicing Army Master Fitness Trainer. I evaluate soldiers who cannot meet physical fitness and/or weight standards and then provide a training schedule and monitor their progress.
I started running ultra-distance races in 1997 and have completed in over 60 events since then. I am active in the running community as a member of the Tucson Trail Runners. I have written many trail and race reviews as well as training articles. My interests also include reading books, camping and gardening. My wife Trish, and I have been married 15 years. She is an avid runner also. We travel throughout the Western U.S. mainly and experience what the outdoors has to offer. We purchased a fitness center franchise and have plans to open the business in our home area of Vail in the near future.

This is just a partial list of top finishes in a variety of locations. If not a top ten finisher then I always place in my age group especially now that I am over 40 years old. I have travelled to and competed in many other locations such as Helsinki, Finland; Juneau, Alaska; Kauai, Hawaii; Saskatchewan, Canada and Nijmegan, Holland.
I am planning several events over the next couple of years to include Hardrock 100, Silverton, Colorado; Angeles Crest 100 in Southern California; Leadville 100 in Colorado; and to continue competing for the National Guard. I captained a 9-person, 204 mile relay team in 2011 at the Texas Independence Relay; we placed 4th out of 135 teams and won the “Honorary Texan” award. As you can see, I have a wide variety of experience, exposure, and talent in the running community. Hopefully I can provide what your company is looking for in a representative. Thank you.
